Here are a couple things that will drive you bonkers when you’re writing your book:
🚫 Trying to please everyone
🚫 Bending over backwards to accommodate everyone’s suggestions
🚫 Trying to avoid even the smallest rejection
The thing is…
Trying to write everyone’s favorite book—and making every change that anyone suggests—will almost always result in writing a book that nobody wants to read.

Taking feedback wisely is an art.
We need to find balance of acknowledging readers’ experience and staying true to our vision.
How do we do this?
✅ By working on our mental health and learning to self-regulate, so that we’re not triggered by rejection or disagreement
✅ By clarifying our vision so that we know exactly what we’re trying to accomplish
✅ By growing a community of trusted feedback-givers who know how to help us develop and realize our vision, rather than telling us what to do
When you believe in the beauty of your creative vision, and you’re committed to bringing that to life, it becomes much, much easier to take feedback and to handle rejection.
