“Want to join a memoir-writing group with me?” my friend S. asked me one day in 2019.
This was pretty random. We’d never talked about writing memoirs before, and I wasn’t ghostwriting them yet. I liked reading them, but my specialty was fiction.
“Yes!” I said right away. “When do we start?”
Shoot, I thought later. Did I just over-commit? What if I hated it? Did I even have anything to write about?
“I’ll just try it for a couple months,” I told myself, “and then I can bow out gracefully.”
A year later, I’d produced over 100 pages of a memoir that hadn’t planned on writing, and I’d learned way more about myself, my growth, and my abilities than I’d ever expected. To this day, it’s some of my favorite writing I’ve done.
Just goes to show…sometimes it’s good to let excitement make the decisions!

Thinking about that group recently gave me an idea…
Do YOU want to join a memoir-writing group?
I’m starting one up at the end of October. It’ll be a low-effort, low-cost, high-productivity class wherein we’ll meet once a month by Zoom and write based on structured prompts in between. It’ll be fun as well as prolific, and I promise that if you show up for yourself, you’ll discover something incredible.
Shoot me a message below if you want to know more. I hope you take the leap!

I’m Kimberly, ghostwriter & book coach who specializes in memoir with themes of relationships, spirituality, and mental health.
