on being interesting enough

“My sister might be the only person I know who’s interesting enough to write a memoir,” my friend Cayla told me recently, when I mentioned The Memoir Circle.

I laughed out loud.

“You know it’s not about being interesting!” I said.

Then I paused.
Maybe she didn’t know that.

Writing a memoir isn’t about being interesting.
It’s about being reflective.

Anyone who wants to look at their life in a new way could write a memoir—
…and it would be interesting.

The truth is, I didn’t always believe that.
For years, I thought only people who’d sailed around the world or survived something extraordinary had “earned” the right to write their stories.

Then, in 2018, a friend invited me to join a memoir-writing group. I joined on a whim—
and learned how wrong I was.

Writing a memoir is for anyone who wants to go on a personal journey.
Who wants to understand themselves more deeply.
Who feels called to find meaning in the places they’ve been, the choices they’ve made, the stories they’ve lived.

If you’ve ever felt that same pull, I invite you to join The Memoir Circle—a six-month writing group for women who want to experience deep personal growth through storytelling.
We begin in January.
Start your memoir journey here.
