The most successful founders and CEOs I’ve worked with all share this in common:
They know it’s okay to be wrong.
➡️ In fact, they encourage it.
(I know, this goes against our cultural stereotype. Maybe that’s why I was so struck by it.)
Visionaries know that great ideas don’t show up perfectly formed.
They often show up “Some Assembly Required,” in a janky box with missing pieces, buried in a truckload of bad ones.
*
These folks surround themselves with other people who do this, too.
If your inner circle is critical, judgy, scoff-y—that’s not a safe environment for ideas. That’s like having a security guard who turns away every delivery.
You know what is a safe environment?
Messiness. Allowing. “Yes and”-ing.
A team of people who know…
…That all trail-blazing involves some dead ends.
…That thinking big comes first—then comes the whittling down.
…That quantity, looseness, openness to ideas: those are the things—not perfectionism—that beget quality.
If you want great ideas, create a space where bad ones aren’t just allowed. They’re invited.

If you’re looking for people to encourage your great and terrible ideas as you write your book…you may want to work with a book coach.
Set up a call with me here to get started. I’d love to see where your ideas will take you.
