“My sister might be the only person I know who’s interesting enough to write a memoir,” my friend Cayla said recently.
I laughed. “You know it’s not about being interesting!” I said.
She paused. “Then what IS it about?” she said. “Who else would write a memoir?”
And then I remembered:
I used to think that, too.
I used to think writing memoirs was only for the exalted. The famous. Those who’d sailed around the world alone or survived extraordinary odds. Those who had “earned the right” to tell their stories.
Now I know:
Writing a memoir isn’t about “having a good story.”
In fact, those high-concept memoirs can sometimes be dull, if they lack self-examination and vulnerability.
Writing a memoir is about being reflective. Curious.
It’s for anyone who wants to understand their life in a new way.
Who feels called to find meaning in the stories they’ve lived.
Who wants to deepen their understanding of life, of themselves, maybe even of truth itself.
And when you do that…
…you’ll find that your story is more interesting than you thought.

If you could use some support and guidance as you write your memoir, schedule a call with me here.
I’m booking coaching clients now and ghostwriting clients for early 2027. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
